What can go wrong
A detector can label non-generated music as generated or miss generated music. Models and generators change, while ordinary encoding and processing can alter the patterns a classifier uses.
What the score cannot prove
It cannot establish authorship, copyright ownership, creative contribution or whether someone played an instrument. Mastering does not change those facts.

What Detect.Music states
Its policy, last updated 24 June 2026, says original audio is discarded after feature extraction. It says extracted acoustic features are retained for detection improvement and cannot reconstruct the original audio.
The same policy says server logs can contain IP address, browser information, referrer, pages and timestamps and are retained for up to 90 days.
What happens on this page

Recent music-information-retrieval research reports strong results in some test sets but also major drops across generators and sensitivity to sampling rate, high-frequency cues and audio transformations. That supports using a result as one uncertain signal, with provenance records and human review carrying more weight.
